(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) May 13, 2009—sixstepsrecords worship leader Kristian Stanfill’s debut project, Attention, is currently featured as part of iTunes’ “Next Big Thing Promotion,” kicking off this week. Additionally, the title is included among “50 Albums for $5 Each” at Amazon.com this month.

Attention was hand-picked by iTunes for the campaign, which highlights a select group of key new artists across genres. Now through June 1, the album will be available at a special price of $6.99. Attention was also chosen by the editors at Amazon.com for its monthly “50 Albums for $5 Each” promotion, featured in the Amazon.com MP3 download store through May.

Third only to top acts Jars of Clay and The Fray, Stanfill’s Attention sold nearly 1,500 digital copies it first week. Similarly, Billboard recognized the album on its weekly “Top Heatseekers” chart, a list of sales by new and developing musical recording artists. The impressive debut establishes strong precedent for what is to come, according to Stanfill’s supporters. Billboard magazine, for example, calls Stanfill, “a promising new voice in the worship music community,” while ChristianityToday.com commends him for “swing[ing] for the fences.” Worship Leader Magazine also glows, “Stanfill may have a common style, but this debut release is an outstanding example that elevates all the rest.”

The album’s first single, “Beautiful Jesus,” is currently vying for adds at Christian Adult Contemporary radio. Stanfill will continue performing music from his debut live at events this summer including additional dates with Student Life, national festivals, and BigStuf Camps. Produced by Matt Goldman (Underoath, Copeland), Attention offers a stunning, eleven-song collection of fist pumping rock worship anthems, shimmering pop ballads, and reverential hymns. Songs include the thumping, militant call to worship, “Kingdom,” and the pop-flavored, energetic song, “Faithful.” Nontraditional worship aria “Wake Up” combines Kristian’s compelling storytelling ability with his signature pop sensibilities. Cuts like “Go” and “Lead Us On” are joyous, encouraging exhortations, while the hymns “Glowing” and “Beautiful Jesus” are presented with awe and reverence.

An Atlanta native, Stanfill began playing music at 13, leading worship for his home church throughout high school. After graduating college in 2002, he started leading worship at North Point Community Church in Alpharetta, Ga. It was there he met Louie Giglio, who, in the fall of 2004, asked Stanfill to lead worship for 7:22, a popular weekly young adult gathering Giglio established in 1995. In 2005, he became actively involved with the Passion movement, first leading a community group at Passion ‘05, a conference for university students, then as a lead worshipper at Passion ‘06. In 2008 he led at both Passion Regionals USA and on the Passion World Tour. He has also been featured on multiple Passion recorded projects including the Passion: Everything Glorious CD and DVD (2006), The Best of Passion (So Far) (2007), and Passion: God of This City (2008).
